The Romanian Dunărea will accompany you along 1075 km from the wild canyons of the Iron Gates to the wide water mazes of the Danube Delta (UNESCO heritage). In between these breathtaking landscapes there is a wide range of cultural and natural attractions like ancient fortresses, impressive vineyards, nature reserves, lively cities as Drobeta Turnu Severin, Calafat, Giurgiu, Călărași, Brăila, Galaţi, Tulcea. The Romanian capital, Bucharest, located at 60 km north of Giurgiu can be considered the fifth capital on the Danube.

Cycling in Romania

Discover the cycling routes in Romania! The country is also crossed by two Eurovelo routes, no 6 from Atlantic to the Black Sea, mainly along the Danube and no 13 The Iron Curtain Trail, partly along the Danube. They are currently under development.

The Danube Gorges

The Iron Gates or the Danube Gorges, the most spectacular segment of the Danube, will surely enchant you with its spectacular landscape, history and multicultural traditions. It is included in the Iron Gates Nature Park.

The Danube Delta

The only delta UNESCO biosphere reserve is the third-richest biosphere reservation in the world in terms of biodiversity, the third largest delta in Europe and shelters the largest compact area of reed beds on the planet.
