Visit the Donaueschinger Castle

Not far from the starting point of the Danube Cycle Path, the imposing Donaueschingen Castle awaits you with its magnificent façade, royal garden and the source of the Danube. Once the seat of the Princes of Fürstenberg – today a cultural highlight at the beginning of the Danube.

Cycling adventures on the Danube

Just a few kilometers off the Danube Cycle Route, the Blautopf in Blaubeuren awaits – a turquoise karst spring steeped in legend. Perfect for a scenic break and photo stop, it’s framed by the historic old town, a former monastery, and charming half-timbered houses, inviting you to linger.

Cycle and Relax Along the Danube

From Ulm, take a detour along the Upper Swabia-Allgäu cycle path between the Danube and Lake Constance. Historical sites, baroque churches and spectacular views of the Alpine foothills await you. A highlight is Lake Federsee, with its prehistoric pile dwellings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Experience the view of Valhalla

From the Danube Cycle Route, a short but steep detour leads up to this memorial. The Walhalla near Regensburg was opened in 1842 and honors over 130 personalities. The neoclassical temple offers magnificent views over the Danube valley – ideal for a cultural bike break with panoramic views.

Regensburg: Historic Charm Awaits

Regensburg, a vibrant bikefriendly medieval city with 2,000 years of history, comprises the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Old Town with Stadtamhof” in which a demonstrably largely preserved medieval building stock and urban architecture with the existence of 960 architectural monuments within 1.8 km².
