EuroVelo 6 Detours

This section of the website has been developed within the Active2Public Transport (A2PT) project and is designed for cyclists travelling along the EuroVelo 6 – Danube Cycle Route who want to discover more than just the main cycling path.

The idea is simple: along one of Europe’s most popular long-distance cycling routes, there are many interesting destinations, towns, natural sites and cultural attractions that are not directly on the route, but are still easily accessible by a short journey using public transport such as trains, buses or boats.

All locations presented here share one key feature: they can be reached by combining cycling with public transport, with bicycles allowed on board. This makes it easy to step off the main route for a short detour, explore something new, and then continue your journey along the Danube without interruption.

From here, you can easily explore all destinations along the route and plan your own stops and detours.
